Step 1: Modify the Google Spreadsheet Template

• Make a copy of this template. (You'll need to sign-in with your Google account.)
• Update the text in the Question, Answer, and Distractor columns.
  • All questions require a question and a single correct answer.
  • You may add up to three incorrect answers (distractors).
    • Distractors are optional, but each question will be presented with four multiple choice answers. If you do not provide three distractors, Flippity will automatically create distractors from the correct answers to other questions.
• Name your Color By Number activity by changing the name in cell A1.
• You can customize color names in cell B2 (e.g. use Spanish names rather than English).
• Customize your Color by Number image by pasting image data into cell B3. You can copy data from the Image Gallery below, or by using this template to create your own image.

  • Click on an image below to copy the image data.
• Custom Image Template
  • Fill in the cells with the appropriate numbers (1-14).
    • Cell background colors will update automatically as you fill in the numbers.
    • Refer to the color chart in column A. (You cannot customize your own colors; you must use the 14 colors exactly as they appear in column A.)
  • When you finish your image, click and drag to select every colored cell (not including the color chart in column A), then click Ctrl + C to copy the data.
• Paste (Ctrl + V) your data into cell B3 of the Color By Number template. Important: You must see a blinking cursor in cell B3 before you paste the data. Double-click cell B3 to edit the content inside the cell. Also, be sure to delete all the existing data before pasting. You may want to follow this sequence:
  • Double-click cell B3.
  • Press Ctrl + A to select all the content in cell B3.
  • Press delete or backspace to clear our the old data.
  • Press Ctrl + V to paste in the new data.
• Do not edit any cell with a blue background.

Step 2: Publish Your Spreadsheet

• Go to File, Share, Publish to web, then click Publish.
• Copy the link generated in the Publish to the web dialog box (you'll need it in Step 3).

Step 3: Get Your Flippity.net Link

• Click on the Get the Link Here tab of the template (at the bottom).
• Paste the link you copied in Step 2 into cell A3.
• Click on the link that appears in cell A5 to go to your Flippity.net Color By Number activity.

Step 4: Bookmark and Share

• Bookmark the page to find it again quickly.
• Click the Play tab to get a link and/or QR code to share with anyone you want to do your Color By Number activity online.
• Click the Print tab to print out Color By Number worksheets.
