What's going on with Flippity?
- Flippity code was broken as an unintended consequence of a recent Google security upgrade. I am currently trying to identify and apply a fix. It will likely be weeks before Flippity is functional again.
In early August, 2021 Google began pushing out a security upgrade that effectively severed the connection between Google Sheets and the Flippity website meaning that Flippity can no longer access the data it needs in order to create flashcards, random name pickers, scavenger hunts, etc. For a while some users were able to use other browsers or incognito windows to access their Flippity activities, but eventually those tricks stopped working too.
It looked like that might be the end of Flippity.
With the help of some developers I've been able to identify another way to access the data from published spreadsheets and there's now hope that I'll be able to get Flippity up and running again. However, it won't be a quick fix as there is a significant amount of work to be done. (By the way, I am the only Flippity "employee." I'm also a teacher and I'm also trying to prepare the school year).
It's too early to know for sure, but I'm hopeful that your current Google Sheets templates (and links) will work without the need for you to make any changes. I'll be attempting to fix activities one at time, starting with Flashcards and moving on to others in order of popularity. I'm working as fast as I can but I think progress will be measured in weeks, not days.
Thank you for your patience. I know you're frustrated (I am too) but your outpouring of support has been wonderful.
